CRITTA is a software package (Control and Real-time Imaging Tool for Tracking Animals) developed to make doing animal experiments easier. It integrates stimulus control, computer vision behavioral tracking and data recording into a single software package with a user-friendly interface. It is inherently multiplexed, allowing simultaneous real-time tracking of dozens of behavioral chambers, making it ideal for use with Drosophila, zebrafish and other small animals.
Experiments are easily designed by the user with a software protocol that can either deliver a completely pre-defined regime of stimuli to the experimental animals or incorporate feedback based on defined actions of the subject.
A variety of possible cameras can be used for video capture. Tracking can be done in real-time, with or without video recording. Pre-recorded video can also be loaded for tracking in CRITTA.
The powerful core package can be further supplemented with plug-ins designed for specific experiments.
